Making its first appearance at Art-O-Rama, the London-based gallery Alice Amati presents a compelling duo show featuring works by Düsseldorf-based artists Annabelle Agbo Godeau (b. 1995) and Rike Droescher (b. 1990). Founded in June 2023 in the dynamic Fitzrovia district, the gallery has quickly positioned itself as a platform for emerging voices, with a strong focus on experimental and research-driven practices in contemporary art.

For its Marseille debut, the gallery brings together two distinct but thematically resonant practices. Alice Amati, the gallery’s founder, highlights Art-O-Rama’s reputation for championing young galleries and its openness to international dialogue as key reasons for participating. The decision also aligns with the gallery’s ongoing interest in the French scene—particularly through the work of Annabelle Agbo Godeau, a French artist whose practice, while international in reach, remains rooted in her home country.

Godeau’s work begins with a fundamental question: What does it mean to live between races? Her research navigates the representation of mixed-race individuals throughout art history and within contemporary visual culture. Through collage and image-based works, she offers a nuanced exploration of femininity and mixed heritage—inviting the viewer into layered narratives of identity and visibility.

In parallel, Rike Droescher delves into the interplay between ancestral archetypes and the contemporary condition. Her hand-stitched embroideries and sculptural pieces, often composed of organic materials, are imbued with symbolic weight. As Amati notes, textiles play a central role in Droescher’s practice—becoming both medium and message in her exploration of collective memory and spiritual resonance.Together, the two artists present a richly textured dialogue that challenges assumptions and reconsiders cultural associations. The result is a curatorial proposal perfectly aligned with Art-O-Rama’s spirit of innovation and international engagement.
