Thanks to the initiative of the curator Guilda Chahverdi of the exhibition « Kharmohra, Afghanistan at the risk of art » who took place at the Mucem (November 2019 – March 2020), a strong mobilization is being organised to be able to evacuate the artists and their families involved (spouses and children) from the country.

Along with the cultural establishments engaged (La Friche La Belle de mai, Fræme Marseille/Art-o-rama, Frac, Beaux-Arts de Marseille..), the Atelier des artistes en exil accompanies them. Jean-François Chougnet, director of the Mucem insists on finding more sustainable solutions and residencies projects.

The average price of a plane ticket is 1100€ per person. More than 80 000 € have been collected. We invite you to participate in the fundraising for the purchase of tickets.

The situation in Afghanistan is deteriorating day by day since the announcement of the withdrawal of the last American troops on September 11, 2021. The Taliban are gaining ground, cities are falling one after the other. Artists are part of the Taliban’s main targets. They are attacked, threatened and murdered. Videos of artists’ assassinations circulate on social networks.

On behalf of the entire Art-o-rama and Fræme team, we thank you for your participation.
